How to: Prevent other users from opening the same database.
Solution:
Select 'Open Database...' from the 'File' menu, locate and select the database to open, select the 'Exclusive' check box, and click 'Open'.
1) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Open Database...'. (The Open dialog box appears.)

2) Select the drive where the existing database is located from the 'Look in' drop-down list.
3) Select the folder that contains the database file in the 'Look in' list box. (The desired database file appears in the Look in list box.)
NOTE: If the file is in a subfolder, continue selecting folders in the 'Look in' list box until the database file is displayed.
4) Select the database file. (The file is highlighted.)
5) Select the 'Exclusive' check box.

6) Click 'Open'. (The database opens in the exclusive mode.)
